Ward Village — The Howard Hughes Corp.’s 60-acre master-planned community located between Downtown Honolulu and Waikiki — recently submitted planned development permit applications to the Hawaii Community Development Authority for two new, unnamed, mixed-use residences, the developer recently announced.

According to a June 14 announcement, the second residence, which integrates ground-level retail with 148 two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes, will also have an economic impact of an estimated $170 million in workers’ earnings, 350 annual jobs during construction, and $31 million in state tax revenue.

Ward Village officials told PBN the second residence is 33 floors.

Additionally, the plans include a combined 20,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. According to the announcement, these shops and restaurants “incorporate a pedestrian arcade and outdoor seating along Auahi Street, expanded walking paths along Ala Moana Boulevard, public art, native landscaping and cultural wayfinding signage.”

According to the public hearing notice for the projects, a presentation before the HCDA is planned for 9 a.m. July 20, followed by a modification hearing at 9 a.m. Aug. 2. A decision-making hearing is set for 9 a.m. Oct. 4.
